Candle Safety

Each candle includes care and lighting instructions on the bottom label. Candles add a fragrant enhancement to living and work spaces and are safe to enjoy, but we encourage care and attention to the following guidelines:

  • Always burn candles in a well-ventilated room and on a heat-resistant surface.

  • Do not leave a burning candle unattended.

  • Avoid drafts, vents, ceiling fans or other moving air pathways to encourage even burning and minimize smoke or a flickering wick.

  • Never touch a burning candle or move a candle when the wax is liquid.

  • Never extinguish candles with water.

  • Make sure a candle is completely extinguished before leaving the room.

  • Keep candles out of the reach of small children and pets.

  • Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire.

Burning Your Candle

Before

Always trim your wick to 1/8” - 1/4” before lighting. Every time. Your candle will burn longer, cleaner and more evenly.

During

For the initial burn, allow the candle to create a full melted wax pool across the entire candle. This will ensure even burning and maximum fragrance release for the life of your candle and is typically achieved within 3 hours.

For subsequent lightings we recommend a burn time of 3-4 hours, fully melting the wax across the top each time. If you like to leave a candle burning for an extended time, we strongly recommend extinguishing the flame, trimming the wicks and relighting every 3-4 hours. This will prolong the burn time and reduce the possibility of excess carbon buildup on the wick tip.

If your wick begins smoking or flickering excessively, extinguish the flame and trim the wick – then relight the candle.

Keep the wax pool clear of wick trimmings, matches and debris at all times.

After

Use care when extinguishing the candle; a short, directed puff of air aimed at each wick is usually sufficient.

Do not move candles until the wax is cooled and set. Use caution as containers can be hot to the touch.

Discard candles when there is 1/4 inch of wax remaining.

Always

Enjoy your candles!

Consider using several candles for a permeating fragrance in large spaces with high ceilings or open floor plans.

Frequently Asked Questions

What wax do you use?

We use a custom blend of soy wax and coconut wax - natural, sustainable, vegan and non-toxic. You can expect an even and long-lasting burn from our candles.

Aren’t all soy wax candles the same?

Unfortunately, no. Label guidelines in the USA allow any candle that is at least 51% soy to be labeled as a soy wax candle. This means there is potentially 49% that is paraffin, beeswax, palm wax, or coconut wax. There are many pre-blended waxes available to candle makers, and those manufacturers do not disclose their full formulas, other than stating what waxes are in the blend. We ONLY use natural soy wax + natural coconut wax. Our wax is considered vegan indicating it does not contain any other wax.

Do you use essential oils?

We use high-quality, clean fragrance oils that are specifically made for candles and contain essential oil components. In addition, all of our fragrances are free of phthalates, parabens, and petroleum and are California Prop 65 compliant. The delicate and costly nature of essential oils does not lend to creating candles, so we recommend customers diffuse or otherwise enjoy their essential oils, and buy high quality, natural wax candles for burning.

What about dyes or other additives?

Nope, and nope. Our candles are natural wax and fragrance oil only, and we use cotton wicks free of metal, zinc and lead.

What size candle do I need for my space?

One candle works great in bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms and typically sized living/work spaces. Larger rooms or spaces with high ceilings or open floor plans may need multiple candles for the best fragrance permeation. You can have multiple candles of the same scent, or mix and match them for your own unique blend.

Can your containers be reused?

Yes! Once there is about 1/4 inch of wax left, stop using the candle. Use caution and care when removing the remaining wax, wicks and any labeling. Our suggestion is to gently scrape out the wax and wicks/wick stickers with a plastic utensil (discard all wax in the trash - never put wax down the drain or garbage disposal). Then place the container in hot soapy water to soften any residue and labels, and wash, rinse and dry. Note: we assume no liability for candle containers or subsequent results of reuse by the consumer, once purchased.

When will I get my shipment?

Packages ship Monday through Wednesday only to avoid lengthy time in delivery/transport vehicles or warehouses over weekends. Due to extended shipment time as a result of COVID and increased demand, our preferred method of USPS Priority takes between 2-4 days, subject to USPS.

Do you ship outside the U.S.?

Not at this time.
